Using that logic, let's go ahead and merge the police department into the mix as well.

Good call, merging BRPD and EBRSO should save a bunch.

Makes a TON of sense and will save the taxes payers money, which can then be used to improve EMS.
If EMS is turning a profit and BRFD is basically broke then why isn't the FD being put under EMS instead of vice-versa? Put the EMS administrators in charge of BRFD.

Still think it's a great idea Chief?

It's like this in all the suburbs in Texas. All firefighters here are EMT certified though. Becoming a firefighter in Texas is a two year program.

I feel like this is the argument the EMS administration should be having, but they aren't doing anything to fight it. Very strange...

Problem is that BR doesn't have any money. So who's money are you spending?

I think it's obvious to anyone with eyes what someone up-thread said: this is just city-funded BRFD attempting to tap into the Parish money that EMS gets that BRFD is no longer entitled to.

Not really sure why anyone thinks the standard of care will go down.

Where places have private run EMS (Acadian) a fire department taking over transport service is a great thing, and can provide MUCH better care than those.

I dont have much exp in a parish run ems system, though.
