Good luck man. Hopefully you get it. I have a friend who owns a real estate business in the area and is just blown away at what's happening right now. I'm really worried that Seattle will go the way of Vancouver, BC and San Francisco.

Well, we didn't get it. Our offer was 8% over list price. The winning offer was 24% over and waived the financing contingency. This market is insane and depressing

Jacksonville is actually probably number 1 in cities I just didn't like at all.

It just seemed like one, giant, strip mall.

The location gives it a lot to work with, so that disappointed me.

Jacksonville is very spread out. There are lots of cool areas/neighborhoods separated by strip mall farms. There is a lot to do there, both indoors and out, but there is no downtown or one area that the whole city revolves around.

Wow, that's insane. My buddy that owns a real estate business keeps telling me to wait until later on in the year. He said that right now there are huge bidding wars but it should calm down in the later months.

I was going to start a thread on Seattle soon as I'm going out there for an interview in the next few weeks. I'm not thinking about buying as I will be coming back to Texas as soon as the job is finished. I was just looking for general info as I'd be working downtown.

I live and work basically all on the eastside. I didn't grow up in the Seattle area (grew up in a small town a couple hours away), so I don't know the downtown area very well. My roommate does work in downtown Seattle though so I can always get information from him.

Growth is not a good thing if quality of life matters to you.
