30-36 months Or over 50lbs. Safest way for them to be seated. They don't know any difference, so why not wait as long as possible???

50 lbs? I hope you mean if a toddler weighs that much. shite, my 9 y.o. only weighs 43 lbs, but there's no way she'd fit length-wise rear facing (tall and super skinny) We just recently started letting her use her seat as a booster with shoulder belt instead of the 5-pt harness.

Yeah the wife said let's try it just for a road trip were taking. We're taking my truck so I can carry the kayak.

The passenger seat is all the way up in order for the rear facing seat to fit. I typically let her drive, and I wedge in since she's pregnant and she can't complain. This time she doesn't want to drive.

When he was 14 months old. He's a big boy. 35" and 29 lbs at 18 months. He was to the point of figuring out how to get out of his seat.

Do you realize how dangerous this is(assuming you are not joking)?

Couple years ago we had a kid in the PICU(I wanna say around 5 or so) that was riding in the front passenger seat of a car that was in an accident. Force of airbag internally decapitated him(severed his spinal column at his neck). He eventually died in the PICU.

Please don't let small children ride in the front seat....the force of the airbag can kill them because their short height means the airbag hits them in neck/head vs where it normally hits an adult.

Standard recommendations are rear-facing seats until age 2; forward-facing car seats until age 5; and booster seats until children turn 12 or reach a height of 4-foot-9.

This is also the law in Tennessee.

We turned our daughter when she was almost 4 but I have no clue what she weighed. She was (and still is) a peanut, many of my friends had their kids turned at two, a couple did it at a year but they had kids who screamed the entire time they rear faced.

Exactly. There have been zero cases of broken legs during a crash from a child that is rear facing in a car seat. Kids don't mind the leg thing. RF, if your child isn't carsick or whatever, is one of the easiest ways to keep your child safe.
