We all have pools right? My 10 year and the neighbors kid(10). always want to swim. At what age did you baws with older kids stop supervising? I got shot to do!

I would let my 10 year old swim alone, but I make sure they are fish by 7.

I let mine do it about that age at our neighbor's pool. No younger kids allowed. She had several years of swimming lessons beforehand.

Had my youngest in lessons before he could walk. He was a true water baby.

My 6 year swims alone most afternoons. I usually keep a pretty good eye from inside.

Yeah I specifically meant in a pool. They are both great swimmers.

At 10 my kid was swimming alone.... but he was also a PADI certified scuba diver, so maybe I’m not a good barometer

Not until they can hold their breath for 2 minutes under water.

Partly depends how deep the pool is.

Not really an age. I base it on ability. My 6 year old is probably good enough to swim by herself now. I'll probably wait until next summer to let her off the leash. But other kids is a different story. I'll talk to their parents and then assess their skill level.

I started taking swimming lessons when I was 3 or 4, and by the time I was 5 or 6 I would get dropped off at the community pool with my siblings for the day, or walk/ ride our bikes there with my friends in the neighborhood. That pool had lifeguards, so I'm not sure if that falls under the category of "unsupervised", but none of our parents would be around.

Yeah this is my backyard. Standard issue in ground pool with diving board and 10 feet on one end. Fenced in.

Depends on the kid. Mine were swimming early and have lots of experience. Not sure what ages they were but I know I wasn't worrying about it by the time they were 10.

Mine couldn't swim alone until they were teenagers. It had nothing to do with their swimming skills and everything to do with me being nervous as hell if I couldn't see them.

I drowned when I was 5. Said frick it. Took my Free Willy floaties off and sunk like a rock.
No grown ups were paying attention.
I came to with all the adults staring over me.
I have yet to let any of those fricks live it down.
