West Monroe man accused of stabbing man and pregnant woman

WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - The West Monroe Police Department has arrested a man accused of a home invasion and stabbing that happened over the weekend.
According to court records, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of North 5th Street just after midnight on June 23, 2019.
The first victim, a male, told police that he was outside in his front yard when 39-year-old Buel Blackwell walked up to him. The victim told police that Blackwell was intoxicated and trying to start a fight, so he went inside. The victim said Blackwell followed, forced his way inside, and punched the victim in the face. The victim says Blackwell had a knife and stabbed him in the chest as he fell.
Blackwell is then accused of approaching the second victim, a woman who is three months pregnant, and stabbing her in the abdomen. Police say Blackwell and the female victim know each other and had a previous relationship.
Both victims survived and were flown to Shreveport for treatment.
Blackwell is charged with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of home invasion.

Right by the high school.
