if you had elevated liver enzymes (hepatitis) from an adverse reaction to a medication or an over medication, then the liver enzymes should return to normal after you stop taking the offending medication. It also depends on which "liver enzymes" were elevated, AST/ALT elevation indicate more of a liver inflammation pattern, Alkaline Phosphatase/Bilirubin elevation indicate more of a congestion pattern.

It is much more common in the US for abnormal liver functioning to be due to obesity or excessive alcohol intake.
