I know everyone is getting flood fatigue here, but
I am coming up with 20 guys Saturday and need a place/church/school to call home base, to cook/serve food for those in need, and send some guys out to gut homes.

Will deliver food to homes as well if needed.

Need suggestions.

The Church in St Amant, and the Venue next door are acting as home base for most of St Amant

So we should be able to got there and start cooking and handing out food?

I am sure we can just start looking for the smallest piles regarding gutting.

Im not associated with them in any way... just know thats where some of the food, aid, etc was centralized on over the past week

maybe try calling them to see if they need any additional help

I thought Lamar Dixon was taken over by Red Cross and people weren't allowed to cook there.

I'd bet Oak Point Supermarket in Central wouldn't mind you guys setting up shop...theyre kind of ground zero in one of the most affected areas

St Amant would probably be a good bet. I hear there is still a lot of need there, the flood waters didn't recede in some parts until a few days ago.

Call the FD first, though, just to check.

Christ's Church on Juban Road in Denham had several tents up last weekend with people cooking.
They were acting as a distribution center as well.
225-572-2180 is their #

Also, you could set up in Juban Crossing (not sure if you need access to power)
The entire shopping center was hit & will probably have tons of people there working to clean out the stores

Also, if you want to try Oak Point:
Oak Point in Central 225-261-1095
Oak Point in Watson 225-243-5309

Thank you!!!!

St Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement. That community has been forgotten. Fr Jason Palermo. Outside of help from other church parishes in BR, they have gotten little or no help from the government or Red Cross. National Guard did not show up until Thursday evening. Red Cross still has not made it there. They are very desperate for help.

I have contact information. St Joseph has a parish hall where they are serving food and Fr Jason has 10-20 elderly parishioners that need help with clean up

Michael Corleone, Godfather, we were supposed to cook at St. Joseph's but were told yesterday that another group stepped up before we did. Our group is designated to cook there on Sunday. They are not forgotten.

Still looking for Saturday spot. May try to touch base with St. Amant church.

Glad to hear it! We have been cooking, sending supplies and man power (originally by helicopter) since last Monday. They are small, so you don't see their community in the local media. As you know though, they took as hard a hit as anyone.
