Well... it's weird to have to start this thread now with all the news that came out literally minutes to just a couple hours ago about the huge batch of firings/releases/furloughs/future endeavorings by WWE

1 of the key impacts of today's releases is that Drake (Rockstar Spudd) Maverick has been promoted for the Interim WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Championship Tournament, which is set to start tonight... more on that later

But we continue on with the Wednesday Night Wrestling Wars

Pre-taped, no fans AEW Dynamite comes from QT Marshall's Gym somewhere in Georgia with Le former Champion on commentary with Tony Skee-uh-vone... and that should be gold once again

The AEW Championship is on the line as Jon Moxley makes his 1st defense of title reign in a no holds barred match against Jake Hager

The TNT Championship Tournament continues with another quarterfinal match as Colt "Boom Boom" Cabana takes on Lance "Murderhawk" Archer

Best Friend Chuckie T takes on "Superbad" Kip Sabian... and we should all keep our eyes on Penelope Ford at ringside

The Spanish God Sammy Guevara takes on Sugar D (who?)

AEW's Chairman Shawn Spears & Dr. Britt Baker will both be in action as well

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NXT returns to live programming tonight... now that it's an "essential business" in the eyes of the State of Florida... from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla.

Since it's been brought up... let's discuss the WWE/NXT Interim Cruiserweight Championship Tournament... which starts tonight

It's very different from the ways WWE usually does tournaments

Instead of being a single-elimination bracket, the 8 wrestlers have been broken into 2 pods of 4 for a round robin style tournament where the winners of each pod will face off in the finals to crown the interim WWE/NXT Cruiserweight Champion

Pod A - Kushida, Drake Maverick (future endeavored today), Tony Nese, Jake Atlas

Pod B - Isaiah "Swerve" Scott, Akira Tozawa, El Hijo del Fantasma, "Gentleman" Jack Gallagher

The obvious question now is how will NXT handle the fact that Drake Maverick was sent on his way today... and who will replace him in the tournament, if anyone?

Undisputed ERA's reDRagon get a chance to re-claim their NXT Tag Team Championships as Matt Riddle and a mystery partner defend the tag titles against Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish. Riddle's Broserweights tag team championship partner Pete Dunne is currently stuck out of the country I do believe

Charlotte Flair's 2nd reign over the NXT women's division begins in earnest tonight... as she gets into her 1st Wednesday night program against Io Shirai

NXT Champion Adam Cole wants to have a "chat" with the Velveteen Dream... will it be a gentlemanly "chat"????

Finn Balor starts his run at the NXT UK Championship as he battles Imperium's Fabian Aichner

There weren't many NXT releases today so whoever loses tonight might not have a job tomorrow.

This was filmed in Jacksonville.

there were a few

the aforementioned Maverick, Lio Rush (remember when he was Bobby Lashley's irritating mouthpiece on the main roster?), & Deonna Purrazzo (who had a match on Raw a week or so ago)

through all of the mass lay-offs from WWE today

should I be happy for the guys who have been begging for their releases lately and finally got it today (Rusev, Mike [Kanellis] Bennett)?

And EC 3, Drake, Eric Young

All capable of working and getting over or helping advance a story.

poor EC3... blamed for something that wasn't his fault and fricked over because of it

essentially Dean Ambrose's final WWE feud was EC3 to get EC3 over as a heel

but since the fans knew Ambrose was on his way out... EC3 never got over b/c they were mad/sad Ambrose was leaving... so they were more into Ambrose than caring about EC3's build

EC3 was never given a 2nd chance to get over as a heel

as for Eric Young... was SAnitY even given a first chance on the main roster?

I mean... Nikki Cross is over now... but SAnitY hardly even got on TV to make an impact

the "Cody's coach" gimmick is kinda working... but of course it's on the backburner right now due to the virus & Arn's age

I think the "coach" gimmick could work better with someone other than Cody

One of the few wrestlers I have ever met (my list is almost jobber...Arn, Z Man, Johnny Gunn, an extremely drunk Marcus Bagwell, and David Crockett, who is best friends with my distant cousin). He is a legit badass. Was in Shreveport visiting friends back in 2001 and met him at a blackjack table at the Horseshoe. Somebody pissed him off. He was on his Nokia and demanding someone meet him or else. He waited. And he damn near was in character. He was dressed in bluejeans and a long sleeve polo and his designer glasses. But he was ready to whoop someone's arse that night over something. Wish I knew more.

Archer should have squashed Colt. He's selling too much for some comedy goof.

AEW confirmed today that Double or Nothing will be taking place from parts unknown. Whether that's Georgia or Florida hasn't been decided yet.

if the parking lot of Daily's Place isn't being used as a COVID testing spot still on 5/23... I would fully expect it to be there
