Yea that's a bittersweet match for me because it is damn time to bask in Keith Lee's glory but UE and Cole have been the best thing in WWE for a while.
They should show up at Extreme Rules and cost McIntyre the title....then it would be off to the races with UE.

whoever lost that match should've been main roster bound
reportedly, Keith Lee and Matt Riddle were the "revelations" in Vince McMahon's eyes during the whole NXT invasion angle leading to Survivor Series
and UDE has been so good for so long in NXT... it's time for them to get some showcase... they can't do anything more in NXT

I don't think they should cost Drew McIntyre the title... but perhaps they could attack him after the match ends
then immediately put reDRagon (Fish & O'Reilly) in a tag title feud with the Street Profits... then start redoing the "draped in gold" storyline again... building Strong to the US Title and then finally Cole takes down McIntyre to complete the prophecy at Wrestlemania where reDRagon and Strong have successfully defended their titles

Do a nation of domination thing where Lashley is like Farooq and Cole is like the Rock.....Cole quickly overshadows Lashley and basically beats his arse out of UE and then we can start your storyline but maybe Cole beat Lashley for the title....IDK. That could be good if done right and its a story that Prichard and Vince know.
ETA I think Lashley is an athletic big guy that can work with Cole and could put him over huge to get his jump on the main roster. Then you have a guy that is a real threat to McIntyre, Strowman, Fiend, AJ, DB, whoever.

I have 2 issues with your storyline
1) UDE doesn't need more members... they're perfect as is... they have the whole card covered already so no need to change that dynamic
2) you would have to turn one of those face at some point... so who would work as babyface?
what I'm thinking is you could immediately have Cole take the US Title off of Crews and have a strong run with that belt to build him up as a main event guy... just like NXT did when he became the first ever North American Champion... at the same time see if Strong can get over to a mid-card level as a singles guy
hell... Cole taking the US Title off of Crews could be used as the catalyst to have Crews join the MVP/Lashley/BLM group

I think you have to put Cole in a bigger story than this.....you are going to be putting a lot of eyeballs on Adam Cole that may not have seen him before. My opinion is I'd have an issue with putting him in a match against Apollo Crews out of the gate.....if WWE would do any future booking ever they would have realized it would have been better to put the IC belt on DB for this reason...then you could have legitimately gotten UE on SD and had awesome work with Cole and DB, reDRagon and New Day.

If anyone could build up the US Title it would be Cole....but that belt is so far in the gutter I just think him getting near it takes him down a level.

then have Cole drop the US Title to an up & coming Keith Lee at say Royal Rumble... Cole win WWE Championship at 'Mania
tease the shite out of Cole/Lee all the way to the next year's 'Mania where the 2 have an insane WWE Championship match
ETA: hell... let Lee have a dominant US Title run and it's title for title again

I think you have to like the future of the main roster with Drew doing what he is doing, Cole coming up, Lee breaking out big time, and Karrion Kross just right around the corner.
Hopefully WWE can do something right with them over the next 5-6 years.

There was an updated report that he actually has 18 months left on his contract so he's probably not going anywhere soon. I see Adam Cole being about as successful as Fin Balor on the main roster. He's maybe 5'8 or 5'8 and about 160lbs at the most. Vince will never push a guy that size.

Cole has superstar written all over him... he's 1 of those guys who can get over whether Vince wants to push him or not
and just a reminder... Finn was Universal Champion but Seth killed his shoulder
hell... Cole could follow Rollins path... they're somewhat similar
