I've always seen people kick out of it. Never seen the shoulders stay on the mat, I don't think.

it happened A BUNCH in Flair matches
in fact... r/SquaredCircle link that includes video of Eddie Guerrero being pinned on Nitro by Flair with the Figure 4
ETA: it normally did involve shenanigans where Flair's opponent had been "knocked out" by outside interference (Heenan Family members or 4 Horsemen members)... but it did happen

I can see why they teamed Omega & Nakazawa for that match tonight
A) it gives Trent a win back over Omega after last week's (pretty darn solid) singles match
B) it doesn't actually beat Omega (Omega doesn't eat the fall)
C) it doesn't "immediately" make the Best Friends the #1 contender to the AEW Tag Team Championships since they didn't get the fall on either member of the current champions
D) it can be used in the "split up of the Elite" story by Page saying "Omega would rather team up with his 'best friend' against the Best Friends instead of his championship partner"... and it resulted in a loss which could devalue Page's championship in a way Page wasn't allowed to prevent

There are reports that scarlet Bordeaux and killer cross was in the backseat of a car last night watching Johnny wrestling leave the building.
