You start paying the shelve stockers a "living wage" and soon enough you'll barely afford groceries. What kind of profit margins do you think small businesses run on?

hes literally saying that if a small business owner sees an "opportunity" that he can operate by paying his employees crap wages so taxpayers have to subsidize the operation

If the employee is worth a shite, they'll either get a raise or find another business owner thats willing to pay them more.

Obviously you don't run a small business or you'd realize its NOT in the owner's best interests to under pay decent employees and end up with a high turnover rate because of employees constantly leaving for higher pay elsewhere. It costs more to hire and train new employees all the time than it does to pay what someone is worth to keep them around longer. But that doesn't mean a gas station clerk or shelf stocker should be earning the same hourly wage as someone with a college degree

if you can not pay your employees a living wage (whatever that might be for your area) you should not be running a business

Isn't that for the labor market to decide? You don't pay well, you get shite employees, you lose business......

Let's remember no one is forcing people to take these jobs.
