I called it in the winter of 2000, sitting with friends in a hot tub with drinks. Post 2YK and the dot com bubble was bursting. All economic indicators were going down. Threats of climate change, whether you believed it or not.

They all agreed we WERE at the top. Maybe it was also we were realizing we'd peaked as individuals / people as we were entering our 40's.

93-94 I was living with Amanda Peterson in Hollywood going to auditions, flirting with Angelina Jolie, and the girls from the Steel Jeans commercials. Now I argue with tweens and bots on TD.

Replace the title with “Change and technology scares me” for OP, and it’d be more accurate.

There are hundreds of recent college football videos that I’d describe as the US peaking over Nascar. I’d never use Nascar as an example for the US peaking.

My second year in college. It was peak me and peak USA. Would give anything to go back to those days.
