My system is programmed. I am not going to predict the weather. Not worth it.

rain water is high in nitrogen. when you water after the rain, you can capture the nitrogen in the soil. makes grass grow more better

nah, from a little further north, supposed to form an insulation barrier to protect the root structure or some sort of nonsense like that, deeper roots help choke out weeds

Mine is programmed. I try to turn it off if we get lots of rain. But the soil where I'm at dries out quickly. By April, 2 weeks of no rain and a few 80-90 degree days will scorch the grass. Safer to keep the system on starting after first fertilizer/pre-emergent application .

crazy, i have lived in the great lakes, midwest and rocky mountains. Maybe their insulation is snow.

or heartier roots, that's just what I've read but really don't put a lot of stock into it(the watering,) the deep root system is a good weed barrier though

I just don't. Ft. Bend County (TX) put some stupid drought surcharge on us. It simply is not worth it to me to keep my lawn looking at Augusta National.

I've always heard don't water too often so the roots will grow deep.
