Admittedly, I'm a watch novice and I think Hublots are clunky and ugly. My wife bought this for me yesterday as an early anniversary gift. Found it used at a local jewelry store for a nice price. Other than a couple of low priced Citizens, it's my first watch.

Are you not a fan of Hublot?
Thye have a lot of ostentatious watches that I don't really care for but I kinda like the Classic Fusion line and the 38mm version I have is outside of the basic design sorta the antithesis of Hublot. I do prefer the Nautilus/Aquanaut, Royal Oak and Overseas but we are talking a much different price point given the same material. Hublot gets a bad wrap for poor value for money which to a degree is true when you buy new but I always figure buying a watch you like best at a price point is better than fretting over bang for buck. Buying something you like is almost always a better choice.

My primary daily wear is a 312.cm. My wrist is large, a 44mm & strap fits more comfortably as compared to a 40mm & bracelet (168000).
You don't see many of those Hublot dive watches, I think they are cool. That said they wear large so the 44mm wears more like a 45 or 46mm due to the case shape. Outside of the size I like it.

If I could ask a side question, a friend of mine let me try his 116680 SS. It’s kind of growing on me, being the resident watch whisperer - what are your thoughts?
The Yachtmaster II is my least favorite of the Professional Rolex models. I can't get over the billboard on the bezel. It is a neat complication but rather useless. Assuming one could get them at retail I would take the cheaper SS blue Skydweller every day at $4k cheaper, but for you it is a 42mm not 44mm.
