Was just looking at the Louisiana Lottery website

There is an unclaimed 1 million dollar winning Powerball ticket that expires in 4 days. It was bought at Ideal Mart on Rampart Street in New Orleans. Someone bought a 1 million dollar ticket and doesn’t even know it.
What happens it the money goes unclaimed? Back into the lottery pool?

It probably got dropped on the ground...which means it’s probably been pissed on.

I am betting this happens a lot more often than we think. I buy lottery tickets periodically and do forget to check them for a while on occasion.

I had a couple go past the expiration date...I refuse to check them after that point!

Whenever I buy lottery tickets, I put them in a drawer in the bathroom and check them every month or so. If the numbers on the billboard don’t change, I assume I didn’t win anything. Sometimes the tickets in the drawer are worth $4 or so, but I certainly don’t check after every drawing.
