Case in point, look at any of the 65 varients, you're looking around $5k for a brake job despite picking up a used one for $

Closer to 3k; assuming you are paying an independent shop

That is absolutely insane. I just got my brakes redone here in Chicago on my Infiniti M37 and it was just shy of $700 total. Had em done at a great place just up the street...not the dealer.

The Brembo brakes (if you go back with stock) are about $650/wheel. The brake fluid is about $60. Labor for the rest.

Labor costs are virtually the same no matter the car.

Insurance is cheap as hell on high end cars.

I’m assuming he is gonna be making payments. Thus full coverage.

I was just putting this as an additional cost. Lots of younger people have cheap cars w cheap insurance or don’t care about replacement.

Cheap: that is a matter of perspective.

Poster could essily afford, was word about repairs/maintenance. I’m was just noting this was also a cost.

Btw, in your situation, you have two cars. So your Porsche Ian the primary or doesn’t need to be. That is pretty difffenr situation than a younger man who is using this vehicle as his primary.

Cheers.

Porsche was my daily.

The tahoe in my previous posts was the car I had before the Porsche.

My wife (No wrecks or tickets) drives a 7 year old CRV and insuring her was a little bit higher than me on the Porsche.

I was 28 when I got the Porsche so if classify that as "younger"

Older than 25! Married. Mileage. Parking.

Ok not even addressing the deductible levels.

Apples to Oranges.

The point is that this is a cost.

$110 with diagnostic checkup and wash/vacuum

Some people have an inflated image of what cars cost. Must be like a game of telephone where prices keep increasing to make it more interesting

Brakes aren't too terrible either if you go aftermarket and DIY.

I see a full aftermarket set with rotors for $435.

Brembo any car will be thousands.

1 brake job and I'm good for the life of the car.

Motor mounts is beyond my skill level though.

Maybe a little under 100K miles and local and I would like this car.

Great cars. I had a 2007 bmw m5. Liked it better because it was a 6 speed manual. Yeah maintenance can be expensive but it’s worth the thrill of the ride.

For some AMG's, they are not repairable at all. The V12 and older V8 cars are basically throw-away cars, which is why they are so cheap. Only chance of getting parts are from sellers that have stripped them off of another car and the prices are astronomical. Cars worth more in parts than they are in good running condition..

I seriously doubt the validity of there being no dealer access to parts. Mercedes Benz has parts for almost every car they've ever made still available from the factory, including Gullwing parts.

Are they carbon ceramics? They're stupid to replace compared to iron rotors.

I think most people just replace them with steel rotors once the carbons give up.

Not sure any price is worth the maintenance/repairs on an E60 M5. Amazing motor when it’s working, but once it goes the car is basically totaled.
