Waitr is the MoviePass of food delivery.

Someone needs to skill them on customer service and just overall intelligence. Many of them cannot find an address just by looking at the damn door numbers. They rely too much on google maps and my neighborhood will throw them off unless THEY READ THE DAMN DESCRIPTION that I kindly typed in their memo box.
And not that I want to have a conversation with one of them at my door while my dog ravages at them, but do not walk up and sheepishly say "hi" and hand me my order and walk away. Read it out. Check it. Say "I hope you enjoy. Let us know how we are doing." These 20 year olds who use this as their main job...kudos...at least you are doing something. But learn people skills. Your main customer base was born before snap chat and probably doesn't use it.
They are too expensive for what they deliver. I have noticed DoorDash and Postmates have better service and technology. Waitr is gonna be OUT.

Is that one of the many meal delivery services?

Chris sold out to Tilman fertitta
Not exactly.
Chris was acquired by Landcadia, which was a publicly traded Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC). A SPAC raises funds through it's initial public offering (IPO). Fertitta co-founded Landcadia, but because it was publicly traded, he's only in for ~$5M.
When Landcadia acquired Waitr, Landcadia was worth ~$100M and Waitr was valued at $300M making the combined company ~$400M. Of the valued $300M, $50M was cash and the rest became stock in the new company. Chris and all the original Waitr folk were still running the combined company. Waitr then acquired Bite Squad for ~$320M (~$200M in cash). It doubled the size of the company, but was also the start of Waitr's problems.

Yes. It started in Lake Charles, LA and was pretty much the biggest player in this market for a few years before all of the others moved in.

Waitr has ended up being a free market test for the bigger companies. Because Waitr only focused on Medium and Small markets, the larger companies that already had the larger cities were able to see what Waitr was doing in a new city and determine if it was worth their time.
I was hoping they would be acquired by another company, especially with how far the market value has fallen, but they don't have anything unique or worthwhile for another company. I think they will slowly become chocked out in all their markets.

Well they also have very little cash on hand and they’re losing money. Not sure who is going to dump a bunch of money in a failing company to keep it alive. I think they lock the doors and liquidate in 2020
