Wage Slave versus Self Employed

Both have their plusses and minuses.
I've been both and fairly successful at both.
Self employed you have more autonomy but the day never ends. The week never ends. The rewards can be great but the stress can be unmanageable at times.
Wage Slave you're on someone else's time. You can be fired, but you leave the job at the door. That in and of itself can be a benefit. And regular checks never hurt.
So, which do you prefer?

I was self employed on contract work and I left work at the office.
I’m salaried now and just about always on call. I take calls on nights and weekends from clients.
I prefer the one that has cheap, good health insurance, 401k match, and PTO.

I’m not self employed and I can’t leave the job at the door.

That's really sad. I hope you're well compensated. That's the worst of both worlds.

Honestly, the benefits from my company are pretty good. That holds a lot of weight
Especially having almost three kids.

It’s more the way I’m wired not due to work load or anything like that.
