Yes it’s trashy as hell and most likely disease filled but it is delicious and I’m not ashamed to be a regular.

I went out with a Waffle House Server for a year , years ago.

Sorry your post reminded me of her.

Only problem I have with waffle house is its so damned expensive. Food is fine, service is fine and atmosphere is appropriate for time of day and geographic location....if you going to Waffle House at 2 AM on Saturday in a college town or near a bunch of bars and you're an adult you ought to know what you are getting into. My daughter's high school has 2 within walking distance and they are like a 1950s malt shop just about 24-7...its all about location and time of day. On friday nights after football those 2 locations are PACKED with high school students having a ball and more or less behaving....loud as kids will be but having a big time. One of my daughters friends is a cook in one of them and he says the kids even tip pretty good...its all about location and time of day.

I took my 83 year old mom to waffle house for a late breakfast a few months ago after visiting my dad in the hospital.
The place was almost empty and the server kind of person apparently was on drugs. He was screwing up every order with the three groups in there. Putting in double orders and then forgetting ours LOL.
Someone took over his responsibilities after that.

Before that my WH visit was at 5:00 AM in St Rose. The one lady taking care of customers was on the phone and talking about her current man previously being the biggest drug dealer up at Southern. Then I listened to her talk about him wanting to screw her even though she was on her period.
Lovely experience

I went one off I-59 In Atalla Alabama one Saturday morning around 5 AM and it was PACKED...and the entire staff walked out LOL. After about 10 minutes of them being gone me and another guy got up, walked behind the counter, and cooked breakfast for eerybody in the place....crowd died down in about an hour, we ate our own breakfast and told some newcomers the staff was gone but the griddle was hot and the refrigerator was full of food....
