Vehicle Insurance question!

My lease ran out November 1st on my truck. I extended it 6 months. It has 41,000 miles on it. Toyota has 3 year/36,000 mile warranty. My 3rd Brake Light just got a leak in it and water is getting in my truck. Cost for replacement is $390.00. They want to do mole remediation which would cost another $250-$450 dollars. Would my Insurance cover any of that?

Insurance won’t cover wear-and-tear, only damage caused by a collision of some kind or vandalism.
I wouldn’t recommend this because it’s illegal, but if some young teens in your neighborhood were to vandalize that taillight then it would be covered
As far as the mold, insurance would only cover that if it were caused by a flood or say something like teenage vandals throwing water through your open window
Both would be comprehensive claims and wouldn’t affect your premium.

Moles typically burrow in dirt. Just clean your truck and you'll be fine

If the leak was not caused by a collision or something like hail smashing it, but rather due to wear and tear or defective part, then your insurance won’t cover it. Even if it did, you would have a deductible to pay. Probably not worth it.
Even if you’re past your warranty, you could still make a claim against Toyota for a defective brake light cover. Call their customer service and say you want to make a claim for defective part and keep pushing it until you talk to someone who can either write you a check or send you a formal denial letter.

Whats your comp deductible? If its $500 or above then its not even worth wasting time with insurance because even if they cover it, its not worth the hassle for $100-200 payout after the deductible gets taken out

Comp wouldn’t cover it unless it was caused by something outside of his control and not a result of wear and tear.
My teenage vandal scandal is the way to go.
