Great work as usual Vader.
I've seen on other tanks the open turret configuration as you have on your model. Did they leave the top off to help loading or was there another reason?

I think the main thinking was to save weight and give the crew better overall visibility, and thus situation awareness. Though they finally figured out the open top made the crew vulnerable. In later tank destroyers like the M36, they did have a top that could be attached.
Here’s the M36 I built a few months ago. I chose to leave the top off so you can see the turret interior.
And here is an example of an M36 with a turret roof.
As you can see, it only offered limited protection, but did still provide somewhat good visibility for the crew.

You should do it. It’s a great hobby.

Good work.
You should have done a Killdozer to commemorate the 20th Anniversary today.

Considering my line of work, I’ve long wished someone would put out a line of Caterpillar equipment model kits. I’d love to build a D11 and maybe something like a 395 to display in my office. I do think someone has the armored D9R the Israeli Army uses.
I may have to build this…

when I saw some pics of F4U Corsairs flown by the British. I had no idea.
