I don't think you understand how the union works at Norco. There are some Union koolaid drinkers in the bunch, but most of them are Union due to peer pressure and/or for formality's sake. That's why we're starting to see workers cross the line. They're saying "frick this shite".
It's also why this story is interesting. The union really is in a jam it appears. It's the perfect storm to see the whole thing crumble.

And every single person who chose to join them, for whatever reason, and then chose to leave their job voluntarily, should crumble alongside them.
I give zero fricks about why you did what you did. It's still despicable, even if you came to your senses.

It's safe to say that compassion isn't your strong suit.
Posted on 3/8/15 at 11:36 am to RealityTiger
What is there to be compassionate about? Did these Union workers walk out of their jobs? Yes? Fire them.

Tell you what. Go get a job at Motiva/Shell with that attitude and see how quick they walk you to the gate for some bullshite.

Ha. Join or die, right?
You Union shills are horrible human beings.

I'm not union retard. My buddy works for Motiva. I work at a non union plant.
I'm a big anti-union guy so you're barking up the wrong tree. I just have an insider's perspective from the outside, which apparently you do not.

Then you have my respect. I'd seriously question whether your buddy is worth being friends with, considering his work ethic involves him walking out of job and hiding behind terrible federal law to demand it back.

He hates the union just as much as I do. He has been applying for a job and looking to move to Geismar.
But when you're offered a job at Shell, you fricking take it. His pay and benefits are superb. And then you for damn sure don't start off being a douche and not joining the union when everybody else on your unit is. That's a quick way to be the black sheep right off the bat. Operators are brutal and will make it to where you'll be ready to drag up in your first 3 months.

And I should be okay with the fact that he gave in and voluntarily supported this false charade?
Tell me, did he tell his "brothers and sisters" that striking was stupid, or did he leave his job with the rest of them?

What part don't you understand? Whether union or not all hourly employees were escorted out of the gate. Plain English there for you. Whether they agrees or disagreed with the union they had to get out. So shut your suckhole. You aren't there so you don't have a clue what you're talking about. Just do everyone a favor and leave this thread you troll.

And what was stopping them from calling thier supervisor and saying I want to cross the line and return to work immediately?

Nothing. He calls me a troll, but he and his shitty Union troll these plants.
No person should be able to walk away from their job without getting fired. It's simple.

Shell was stopping that. It was 6 days before they invited anyone back to work.

Sort of where everyone is at this time. Can't be done overnight though.

Even the alleged dissenters know that federal law prohibits Shell from firing them. They have no incentive to go back until it suits their own purpose - or starts to affect their finances.

False Prophet = ultimate maggot!! This guy has no purpose in life but to shite down peoples throat.
I wouldnt piss on you if you were on fire. You are pure trash...I bet your from Livingston huh?!

I'd rather be a maggot than Union scum
Unions and the Labor Act are two of the things I despise the most.
How any principled person could voluntarily join that steaming pile of shite is beyond me. I need to make a career out of shitting down Union members' throats, because they deserve nothing better.
