Not that we need them as of yet, but luckily they are both in the US at the moment. Mercy is in San Diego and Comfort is in Norfolk. And no need to worry, these ships are crewed by civilian mariners so, rest assured, they will arrive at their destination without running into anything.

Update: Comfort deployed to New York Harbor

Hypothetically, who'd win in a naval battle? The Mercy or the Comfort?

They are sister ships so it'd be a toss up but I'll bet on the Comfort.

UPDATE: The federal government is sending a hospital ship to New York, the USNS Comfort.

The Comfort, which has about 1,000 rooms on it, will be moored in New York Harbor.

My vote would be on Mercy. It's the much more well know of the two.

That being said, these two ships are a ridiculously tremendous resource and its amazing they happen to be on opposite coasts. These aren't army field triage tents that float. They are legit world class medical facilities.

They also pretty regularly deploy on medical aid missions all across the globe so it's pretty crazy that they are both in the US right now
