This is why it's his fault. No, the guy shouldn't have been killed, but he was because of his own actions, causing the LOE to make a mistake and use excessive force. However, it all began with the guy not obeying the officer.
Dude I was in law enforcement...um you don't pull a gun in that situation. That's why no cops are backing this young punk.
People disobey commands ALL THE TIME. You don't pull guns out.

This is bad. Nothing to defend here. He over reacted and caused the death of someone. I don't know how anyone can defend this shooting.

My speculation is that he saw the perps right hand go towards the front of the console where the ignition switch was. I'm thinking the cop thought he may have been reaching for a weapon and the cop unholstered his weapon at that time.
Your speculation is hilarious. I'm sure the guy kept a tiny gun hidden in his key hole. The cop then reached for the ignition because he thought the guy had a gun in that same key hole. Just a really tiny gun.
Then he shot the guy point blank in the head because he thought he'd gotten himself stuck in the unarmed mans car by his own mistake and didn't want him to drive off.

Yes, terd. The man evidently put it in drive and started to drive off with half his skull missing.
Tough to believe, but it's got to be true.

THANK YOU.
Disobeying commands does not warrant a gun being pulled. That's an absurd notion.

NOW we're talking next level shite. That's at least 3 hoops you jumped through to make this shooting justified.

Sorta like the SC officer that shot a man at the gas station after telling him to get his license. Thought the guy had a weapon...guess officer forget he told the man to get his license. Thank god the officer didn't kill that man.
Not everybody is armed. You don't shoot because you THINK someone is reaching for a weapon. Guy wasn't hostile or cursing. Didn't even seem threatening. Guy was calm, voice calm, soft toned.

Or get shot.

His actions caused it to happen. There's no disagreeing with that and that's my only point. Had he gotten out of the car and obeyed all commands, got shot point blank, then yes it's the officers fault. However, you disobey the law, you could very well get killed. Whether that's right or wrong, it's still your fault for not listening to the person in control.

You do pull you gun sometimes when you get that gut feeling, but this guy obviously had his finger on the trigger.

Just watched the video and wow just wow. The guy looked drunk and driving without a license on him but he was complying with the officer's commands and there was zero justification for the cop to shoot him. The defense attorney would have to do a slam dunk job to convince me that was not murder after seeing that video.
Just another example of why cops should always wear a body cam. Body cameras have protected multiple innocent cops and the body cam got this arsehat indicted and hopefully convicted.

When did I ever say the LEO used proper force?
All I said was the guy is dead because he didn't listen to the LEO, making his death his fault.

I was answering his question as to why the gun was unholstered for a traffic stop
