I have an electric line in conduit that runs from my meter, around the house and to my pool equipment. I know it's there, but it was run before I purchased the home.

The 911 people that come out won't look for it. They will only look for the line comeing from the easement to the house. Nothing after that.

I just received a quote to locate it for $515.00. Is that reasonable, given that it'll take them all of about 15 minutes? Is this something I can rent and do it myself?

Probe it.

But for real, you can rent the equipment.

Amazon has some cheap locator tools.

Depending on where you live, a local tool rental store might have one as well.

Honestly, I don't know why I didn't think about this until I started typing. I just looked and Sunbelt rentals has these for $98 a day rental.
