My grandfather was a sharecropper. Flour sack clothes for the kids. Had all of his kids out in the fields all day long working once they were past 3 or 4 years of age. Rice and gravy for meals. They had just enough chickens to where they got a few eggs and would kill one for supper on Sunday. No shoes for the kids. Just enough money for the above, never enough to break the cycle. Im not sure he had to sign a "legal contract" to work from before sunup till after sundown to be impoverished so badly. Literally didn't have money for the clothes on their backs and no way out.
Quite similar to miners in the Appalachians that made a pittance and were then forced by a "legal contract" to purchase all foods and goods from a "Company Store" that took all their earnings back when they bought goods. These people and sharecroppers were tricked into slavery for the big company's and land owners who previously owned slaves pre civil war.
Black people, contrary to your beliefs do not hold a patent on slavery. Read some history books about slavery worldwide prior to the civil war. It will open your eyes.
Hell, just read the bible. You will learn much about slavery of all races there too. Not just for black people. That has become the narrative today, but it was never exclusively for blacks the way it is painted now. Slavery is kind of like the "N" word. I guess. It belongs only to black people and they are the only ones who can use it. And they use both a lot.
Much like the British lady who schooled Don Lemmon a couple of weeks back on slavery. There is much more to the story than is being presented today.

First, point out what you used to surmise my beliefs on the history of slavery worldwide.
We are talking about slavery in the colonies and the US but if the whataboutism makes it easier for you feel free to continue.

Well if that's not the pot callin' the kettle black. It's been over 150 years, closer to 160. Let it go, for God's sake, Tuse. Life is too short to go through it, so dogmatically bitter over something that happened so long ago. I'll let you in on a dirty little secret. All those people on both sides of that conflict are long dead.

whataboutism
You proggies sure like to make up words to use when you have no rebuttal for facts. It takes real talent to constantly change definitions, and create words that mean nothing. Let's do "equity" next.

Yes....Holt Collier was a slave that followed his master to war and ultimately fought as a combat soldier for a Ninth Texas Calvary unit operating in the Mississippi Delta. See his well-written biography “Holt Collier” by Minor Buchanan.

You wanna talk about slavery in 2022?
Hint, slavery still exists, but not in majority white countries.....shall I continue?
