In 10 years it will be a very bad industry to be in. The lack of drivers that makes it lucrative now is the driving force behind developing self driving vehicles.
10? Come on lol.
I'll give you 50 years it will be bad. Maybe, just maybe 25. But I highly doubt it. Even if the car drives itself, they will still have to have someone behind the wheel.

It's not a scam, but pulling a box OTR is not very lucrative either. Brokers have killed that part off. If you are in this business, everyone knows someone on a easy dedicated lane, but there are very few of those.

How old is "too old" to start getting your CDL and driving for a living?

And they are garbage to work with. Ruining the industry.

I think driving a truck is good work for someone who "doesn't play well with others".
truck driving academy is not necessary, as any company worth its salt will train him.
truck drivers can pull some decent money, but they have to be self motivated and willing to put in long hours on the road.
If drugs or alcohol are a problem, he should look elsewhere....DWI generally means termination for this type of work.

A lot of jobs for truckers out there. I believe they said that over 50% will be retiring in next couple years, and they don't have enough to replace. So some are being paid to stay on, with companies begging people to come join their team.
Teams (Husband and wife/Gay lover) are the most in demand for long haul routes. With two people, the truck can stay on the road continuously and they can make about $4,500 per week. It's pretty good money if you're willing to be out on the road all the time...
