I know this will hit home to a lot of OT truck nut Baws. Americans can’t afford new cars yet we buy them and just make payments for eternity. Feels nice to be one of the few on the road driving around with a paid off car.

This is definitely new info that hasn't been discussed

Most vehicles in the six-to-12-year-old range—what Experian calls the sweet spot—are reliable enough without a warranty and significantly cheaper to own than a new car.
Sounds like a pain in the arse when those cars start falling apart.

A construction laborer should have the right to buy a F-250 Platinum.

What's an auto loan? I've never not owned a car outright.

What’s cheaper a$1500 repair or $60k over 8 years

Don’t bother. Those folks have to justify their stupidity.

Been driving the same vehicle for 16 years.
2003 Suburban, >225K miles. Strictly maintained.
Over 16 years replaced ball joints, bushings, wheel bearings. Alternator, Starter.
I enjoy not having to make any payments.

I'll stick to my $20k mid size pick up.

Yeah there's definitely no middle ground. New cars start at $60k
