In the video, you can see the lion coming over the ridge to the right when they were posing and right before he gets up to grab the camera.

Definitely what I expected someone who goes to Africa to hunt lions to look like.

Why respect an animal that evolved to be an essential linchpin at the top of the food chain when you can pay a starving Namibian $5k to bait it and kill it with zero risk for Instagram?
In countries that have ethical wildlife management and hunting guidelines, they generally only allow the culling of older males that have become so ornery that they're a threat to the rest of the population, and they charge a lot of money for the privilege of being the one who culls.
So, yeah, they can't help that the people who normally pay to shoot trophies are usually rich narcissistic assholes, but this is USUALLY legally done with conservation in mind.
ETA: there is still a lot of poaching, and it is a problem, I just don't like to see the gross generalization applied to sport hunters and all hunters whenever one of these pictures shows up. Regardless of how crappy a person may or may not be, there is a lot of money in trophy hunts, and a lot of it goes to good use in some very poor countries.
