This is why Shreveport/Bossier is the best part of the state. fricking shitholes in south Louisiana are ruining the respectable image that North LA has built for itself.
I'd rather live in the worst part of So La than the best part of No La.

100% agree
There are 0 redeeming qualities for Shreveport and Bossier

Is there a breakdown by race?
I'm sure there is. I do remember back in the early 90s there were like 475 murders in one year and six victims were white. 1 in an armed robbery and 5 were domestic issues. Domestic crimes can't be prevented for the most part.

They won't give you this information. We know it is predominantly black. No reason to sugar coat it. You can't fix the problem until you admit what it is.

The only white people I can think of in BR who have been killed are LEO and in New Orleans it's the occasional tourist/idiot trying to buy drugs or sex.
Point being since I am not in either of those positions I feel pretty safe in both cities.
Criminals aren't kicking down doors in Bocage or Audobon Park and robbing people that I know of.

Exactly. Until the victims makeup switches to middle age, upper/middle class white male, I feel pretty safe

My sister doesn't even lock the doors to her house until they go to bed.

Also the crime right now makes the late 80s to mid 90s look tame.
This is what people don't realize. I am not saying its okay for crime to be where it is now, but early to mid 90s crime was really bad. New Orleans was known as the murder capital of the world.. The police department might have been the more corrupt police department in US history (I am not sure if there is a way to figure this out, I am just saying it was really bad).
As for as being in both cities. Although both cities have high crime rates, I have never really felt uncomfortable in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. Anything can happen to anyone at any time, but if you are aware of your surroundings, use common sense and don't put yourself in any type of bad situation then you shouldn't have anything to worry about.
Some of you on here are acting like both cities are a complete war zone. As if the second you get into the city you have to dodge bullets while someone is trying to rob you.

NOLA does a great job booking conventions. It is a great place to go for a weekend for couples, groups, partying, pro sports, a few bowl games etc. how many of the 12 million go for Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, and the essence festival?

I think they usually estimate around 1-2 million during the 2 weeks of Mardi Gras and couple hundred thousand for Jazz Fest. No clue for Essence Fest.
