Nah, I don't do any crim law, and I like defense lawyers. It's just that law schools must be handing out mighty tall soapboxes these days. It's easy to be self-righteous when Sallie Mae is picking up the rent, but come back here when she's ready to get reimbursed.

Not to speak from a high horse, but I worked my arse off in undergrad and prep for the LSAT, so I'll be graduating law school debt free thanks to the academic scholarship that covers all my tuition and my wonderful wife who works her arse of as a teacher to pay for our living expenses while I'm in law school (yes, we live poor, but debt free as a young, educated married couple).

Edit: I should add also with no handouts from our government either.

Divorce attorneys

Isn't it odd that exactly 50% of the people think this?

Good for you - but my Sallie Mae comment refers to much more than just student loan debt. Life out of school gets expensive quick. Vehicles, mortgage, kids, not-eating-mac & cheese-every-night, etc.

I'm truly happy for you not to have student loans as that it one big burden to avoid - but idealism is still expensive. I personally don't care for the thought of spending several extra years to get an education and then purposely being a broke dick, but to each their own. Best of luck to you

I'm from MS and want to practice here, so I came back to Ole Miss when they offered the scholarship. LSU offered, but I wanted to practice in MS and my wife is licensed in MS to teach (she was fresh out of college), so it made sense for me to come back to MS.

There's a fine line between wealth and being able to sleep at night. I'd gladly give up a few dollars to have a clear conscience. With that said, I still don't want to live broke my whole life, but I don't need a huge house and fancy cars. Just a place to take my kids (future) to hunt and people to care about. I've never seen a big house or a car (insert any other thing of that nature) love someone back or be there for them when they need it.

Good, just wanted to make sure I wasn't talking to someone attending Southern.

Don't know, but it shouldn't even exist.

With the budget crisis in Baton Rouge I am amazed no one talks about closing that thing down. Heck, it has more white students than blacks, so racial argument shouldn't even be there.
