Hot as shite and the fricking roaches. That’s what I saw when I arrived to Louisiana for grad school in August.

You called me a douche. I'm crying now I'm so upset.

I tried getting the thread back on topic. You derailed it again afterwards fwiw.

From your name I see you are from my neck of the woods I had to call home to describe the giant dinosaur bugs to everyone.

I mean...who calls a woman a douche?

Sounds like a little kid getting so flustered and upset he starts saying "well, well, you're a doodie head"

Nah. He was born over in Folsom so it’s close enough. We did have to have a discussion about walking past a wheelbarrow last night. Maybe those are different here?

Get him, nurse! Though I agree with him on the school thing. People were shocked I went to public school.

I moved to new orleans from mobile about 25 years ago and a few things immediately stuck out to me.

At the time, the greater new orleans area (including metarie) was dirty looking, smelly and there were stray dogs everywhere. The canals were filthy looking giant ditches and probably the worst eye sore i had ever encountered.

In 1994, new orleans was the "murder capital of the country" and crime was rampant all over the city, including the wealthiest parts of uptown.

I asked a coworker where she lived. She said "uptown". I asked is it safe? She said with a straight face "yeah, we've only been broken into twice".

I learned quickly that you can't think of new orleans as the most dangerous city in america. You have to think of it as the safest country in the Caribbean.

Terrified. For such a giant he’s really timid. When he’d get banged around in a race he’d usually quit.

First time my husband visited LA I had already been visiting LA for a few days and picked him up from NOLA airport. On the drive back to BR he asked me why wasn't there more fencing by the woods along the interstate.....to keep all the alligators from walking on to the interstate

I ALMOST HIT ONE ON RIVER ROAD LAST MONTH!

I didn’t think that was a thing here in Baton Rouge. Most Louisiana thing that has ever happened to me.

See...fencing would have totally prevented that. He does have a point.

hopefully he'll get accustomed, used to have an Arab that was kind of like that, a little high strung but he eventually settled down

I’m scared of deer so I’m always looking for eyeshine. Glad I noticed. He would’ve done some damage.
