Electricity is easier to find than gasoline before, during, and after a disaster. Generators are ubiquitous in areas prone to hurricanes. A gallon of diesel burned in a generator and used to charge an EV will drive the car farther than burning that gallon directly in a similarly-sized car. An EV can serve as a generator in a pinch.

EVs are ideal disaster vehicles.

The vast majority of charging happens at night when demand on the grid is low. And as it happens, demand on the grid tends to be highest during the day where people and their cars are. All of those parked vehicles could be contributing to the grid's supply during these times instead of adding to demand.

EVs are the solution to rolling blackouts.
