2013 Tundra, 250k miles. Laughing at idiots that still are loyal to a ‘brand’ that craps out or needs major maintenance 60,000k. Keep living that American dream hoss.

2013 Tundra, 250k miles

I've got an '08 4dr 4wd Tacoma. 347k miles. I might love that truck more than I love my wife.

I bought her a highlander when we had baby #2 last year. It promptly started having engine trouble. I was pissed

. It’s got a helluva lot more torque

I've had all 4 generations of the Tacoma. My '25 TRD Pro has 465 lb/ft of torque which is a lot for a mid size truck - especially coupled with the 8-speed automatic.

Have you driven the 4 banger? Go drive one first I agree with you, but drive one

The bad thing about these turbocharged 4 cylinders is that what they’re doing is making a four cylinder engine do the work of a six cylinder by slapping a turbo on it. Same thing with the turbocharged six cylinders in full sized trucks that use to have V8s. Simply put, both the turbocharged six cylinders and engine are being over-worked.

But there are two big problems.

1. Even with the turbo, a four cylinder engine is still overworked in a midsize truck. And again, the same is true for turbocharged six cylinder engines in full sized trucks trucks.

2. Having a turbo go out is not like having a starter, water pump, or alternator go out and you can simply bolt another one on. Odds are good that if your turbo goes out, and it eventually will, especially in these overworked configurations today, it’s going to trash the engine by sending metal chunks into it.

I view turbos as a ticking time-bomb strapped to the top of an engine.
