I read somewhere that if Ramzi Yousef had positioned the truck bomb differently, that the tower might have actually collapsed.

Does anybody here know anything more about that?

It's amazing how much we have regressed as a nation since then.

A sad day that showed we were not ready for the future event that followed.....

You would have thought this event would have red flagged that terrorist from Middle eastern countries were focusing on American targets. I guess easy to say now with hindsight.

After his capture and extradition to the United States in 1995, Ramzi Yousef was taken by helicopter to New York. The FBI man guarding him motioned to the Twin Towers and said, "See them? They're still standing."

To which Yousef replied in perfect English, "If I had had enough money and explosives....they wouldn't be."

Talk about premature celebration.

The Clinton Admin treated Islamic terrorism as a crime instead of an ideological war. Bushies may have taken it too far in the other direction, but their read was far more accurate and appropriate.
Not an endorsement of all Bush Admin policies. Just acknowledging that they had a better understanding of the enemy.
