you'll need to go back farther than 2001 if that's your goal. toyota will also be more difficult to work on yourself than an older domestic truck.

I had a friend that managed a Nissan dealer.
When I was looking for a good used trucks for both of my nephews I asked him for help.
He leased a lot of the Nissan Frontier 4x2 trucks to people and 9 out of 10 they were slightly over the allowed mileage. That meant the person turning them in would get slammed with penalties.
He had a few customers with some ready to turn in. He let me deal directly with the people and the lease company.
I paid $16k for one and $19k for another one that was a full leather package. The trucks were in very good shape and low mileage.
