All some of us are saying is just be a decent human and tip these folks accordingly. It's not that difficult.
I never said for people not to tip, that narrative was created by several sensitive posters who lack the ability to read.
I just said for college kid to find a job that doesn't require them to rely on tips. Tips are not guaranteed income and should not be treated as so.

from experience this usually has nothing to do with the driver (not always) the way these things are packaged and what we’re told to do it’s often impossible to know what’s in the bag
This, not to mention if i pick up Indian food or something, I have no idea what any of that shite is anyway.

As far as the wait I was sitting in a restaurant waiting on food for 45 minutes the other day. We get just as pissed off as you do.
Made the mistake of accepting an order from a Mexican restaurant on Cinco De Mayo...never again

On top of all the fees, if you look at the item prices on these delivery apps, each item is always more expensive than they are you were to dine in or takeout yourself.

This is actually a huge issue for most of the delivery services right now. Drivers will target runs with better tips if they can. Many of the apps allow the receiver to edit the tip after the service. So what is happening is that receivers are entering larger tips to get their goods and then lowering or removing them entirely after they receive the delivery. Bait and switch on a massive scale.
This is what makes no sense to me. Your courier literally picks up your food, drives from A to B, and hands you your food. 10 seconds of interaction. If your initial tip is so shitty that your food sits and gets cold, that's your fault, and not an excuse to lower your tip

I don't see how it is worth it to drive for stuff like that when you factor is gas and wear on your car
It probably isn't. I think the entire business model counts on the drivers not really understanding the worth of a mile put on their car.
A 6 dollar delivery fee isn't that much. These folks aren't driving company vehicles.
Don't be a cheap arse.

Why is the policy dumb?

That’s due to the companies getting greedier and greedier about the split they get on these orders
Restraunts are bumping up their prices to counteract the amount they are giving away to the delivery company.
