Mayor LaToya Cantrell said, "None of these acts are random at all. We have to understand women also play a role in violent acts in our city," Friday afternoon following the deaths of three women over the course of 24 hours in New Orleans.

Two of the women were Ja'Diamond Jones and her friend Imani Williams. The two women were gunned down outside of a hookah club in the 1000 block of Claiborne Avenue Friday morning.

quote:

Jones' 20-year-old daughter Ja'Diamond was seen in surveillance video leaving from the bar with three friends. A gunman is waiting at the corner of St. Phillip and North Claiborne. He runs the four women down, following them as they ran underneath the Claiborne Bridge. At least 94 shell casings were found on the scene. Several vehicles were also shot into. Jones and Williams lost their lives. Jerome said he did not know a motive for why his daughter was killed.

That's some really terrible aiming.

quote:

We're told Ja'Diamond's friend Imani, had just turned 20 years old and had been attending Southern University. Both were celebrating milestones on the night of their murders.

Seems like it's been a minute since we've had a juicy NOLA thread on the OT.

What in the world was he using that could shoot 94 bullets and not need constant reloading? I bet a lot of those casings have been there for a long time and are from many different guns.

This area and Canal Street should be eradicated.

I think the violent crime data out of New Orleans is under reported by a significant margin.

How did the mayor know they identified as women? Can the mayor even explain what a woman is?

Why doesn’t Destroya understand it? Then do something about it for a change.

She has no business lecturing anyone on violent crime. That’s gotten far worse under her watch in New Orleans.

That’s happening all across the country.

Nobody needs to be anywhere in NOLA anymore. Family can just come see us because we aren't going.

You may not be the target but who wants to be in the crossfire?

This. There was a carjacking on the 900 block of State Street on Saturday that went completely unreported on the news. Another armed carjacking with shots fired happened near the Willow School on Joseph Street Saturday morning. That wasn't reported on the news until someone showed up at the hospital.
