Don’t wash the car, you’ll either frick it up or it will take too long,

It is something I enjoy doing, and I know no one that is going to do a better job at it than I am, because it is mine. Washing a car is not rocket science, but it is very easy to mar the paint with either poor technique, poor products or a touch of the I don't care. I know how and I won't cut corners. I know the opportunity cost is fairly high, but the value of the enjoyment and the fact that my car is well taken care of makes up for that, because even though I have a soft spot for nice cars, I tend to drive them for a good long while.

That being said, if you don't have the right stuff, don't care to do it, or don't know how - pay someone. A truly good detail man is worth what they charge, no dispute there.

And does a good but not great job. Won't get road tar off and does an OK job on wheels.
Yep, definitely agree here.

It's for more of your every weekend or so quick jobs, but won't be good for deep trouble spots.

Go with the MTM foam cannon if you don't have a budget. It is a little pricey but worth the money. It is better quality than some on Amazon. Also there are tons of soaps you can use but I use the GTechniq G Wash soap and it foams great, clings to the surface and gives a great glossy shine when finished.

When you purchase detailing products it is worth it to spend a little extra money and get good quality products.
