Bad news

Pictures were circulating over the weekend of the fences torn down, equipment everywhere Nd the water green. Someone called the city about it

Apparently the pool wasnt open last year, has been a target of vandals multiple times and is likely to be demolished

I grew up one street over and spent a lot of summers there ,shame its come to this

Heres what the owner said on next door

“To update everyone, I have now 3 times this year alone had the fence repaired and also post pictures of one of the kids who broke into the pool with no one stepping up to help find them. We did hold a meeting and only 3 showed up and only one who has tried to help get the pool going.

Everyone seem very upset with the condition of the pool and we have already started taking bids from companies to haul the trash out and fix the landscaping as well as drain the pool.

The pool will not be opening back up this summer and most likely not again. As we are also taking bids for demo of the property to be sold as we have not been able to get support from the neighborhood to establish a partnership and with the constant breaking in and vandalism we feel there is nothing left we can do.

We hope to have it clean up very soon and if anyone has additional ideas I am happy to hear them.”

That is called un-gentrification. It happens when older folks die off and the beneficiaries don't want to live in a 70's ranch-style house that needs major updates. The houses get sold quick and cheap and most of the new residents could care less about keeping up the property or repairing/maintaining a neighborhood pool. As the older residents pass away it generally gets worse. It seems to happen a lot when there is a boulevard...for whatever reason the crappy neighbors just love a boulevard.

The first sign of the decay of a neighborhood. Means people arent paying their dues. In 10 years that big catholic church will be a buddhist temple and Parkview Oaks will officially be Villa Del Ray.

That sucks. That’s a great located neighborhood too since you can enter it at Jefferson/Airline or Coursey/Siegen...easy access to both interstates.

It’d be even worse if the residents could not care less.
