Our 4th grader is spending about an hour per day doing the suggested “optional” schoolwork online. The rest of the day, we are mostly working and playing outdoors. The weather is too nice to think about home school right now, and the boy is learning to do a man’s work.

Our household has proclaimed this strange spring to be “new summer.” I say enjoy it while we can. Home school can wait until the hottest days of the year.

That’s not going to fly with the Board of Education. Are we all just making our own rules now?

I don’t have a daughter to teach about making andwiches.

But my son knows how to load a dishwasher.

Yes. We are.

Public school kids in my parish aren’t going to get credit for anything they do. It’s completely optional.

I looked at my assignments and students who had completed them this morning. Basically, no one has done anything I've assigned since the first week we were out.
