Carbon capture and sequestration technology is very safe. There’s really not much danger at all in the process. It’s stored in hollow salt caverns underground.

Not so. It will be stored in saline drive water reservoirs. In all other respects, your post is correct.

The big storage site in the NOLA area is going to be all around and under Lake Maurapas.

Does it take the size of each facility into account?

No, it does not. CF Donaldsonville is a huge site with six ammonia plants, and other plants as well. I expected them to top the list.

Just curious what exactly they will do with all the carcinogens after they strip out the CO2 that helps dilute and distribute those hazardous chemicals. You know, the shite that will actually harm you. You want those in low concentration, removing all the CO2 from a big heater, boiler or reformer will just concentrate the HAPs, NOx (ground level ozone) and PM (lung issues). Not to mention the energy required to capture the CO2 (large amine unit and compressor engines) and the extra pipe needed (muh pipelines).

But muh climate change.

They have or until recently had Big Cajun 1900Mw, Brame 1700mw, Dolet Hills 650mw, Roy S. Nelson 614mw.
Dolet Hills is scheduled to close early next year, vacating over 100 high paying jobs, not to mention hundreds of mining jobs and other related jobs in the area. I’m not sure which other plants are on the chopping block but unless government regulations change, which they won’t, all those plants will be closed unless they repower to natural gas by 2030-2035. Take a look at that, almost 5000 MW’s!
And nothing against you but your statement of pardon your ignorance is exactly why so many of these plants are being forced to close, because so many regular, every day citizens are completely ignorant to the fact that their reliable, less expensive power supplies are being closed down right under their noses and many don’t even know those plants are even there, it’s like they think electricity just falls out of the sky and isn’t produced at an industrial facility.
