Damn. What did she do?

Kicked a teacher who caught her leaving school grounds. She has a 'for real' condition, but they handle her with kid gloves.

What are you saying? Deny the kid an opportunity to an education and his constitutional rights because the school and parents currently cant find a solution to an involuntary problem? If teachers don't like it, they should find other work.

Sister in law teaches at a local middle school. There are multiple kids in her class that have punched/kicked teachers with zero repercussions. They kick them out of class and the principal sends them right back. She will be leaving the school after this year.

You guys need to watch the TV show "Last Chance High" about a school in the southside of Chicago if you REALLY want to see how bad it is. Here is the first episode: LINK

Link shows the problem but most will miss it. Parents fricking suck. Absolute shite parenting that carries over to their shitty kids. Girl stabs a boy twice, mom blames boy for aggravating her. Seriously?

Ya the link is VERY telling. It has a lot to do with the parents, the kids mental issues and the school they go to but I would say 99% of the kids in there have no chance. Its really a great show that really shows how much trouble that community is in.

Watch the link I posted, it follows the little thug kids around their entire school day. They get in MULTIPLE fights a day, curse out the teachers constantly and NOTHING happens! NOTHING!

ETA: And this is a documentary done with the school district!

I taught for a couple years and one school I was in had some kids who behaved like that. It's incredibly difficult, but makes you sad because you can tell its a product of their home life.

I finally got a student to apply himself and he made a 100 on his test and he was stoked. That weekend he watched his friend get murdered.....how do you tell that kid on Monday that he needs to pay attention? (he wasn't disruptive, just obviously not listening to me)

At least someones trying though. Those kids live in hell. No parents, a war zone for a neighborhood and no one to help them get through their mental issues.

I couldn't even imagine either of those situations and I have no idea what the answer is. What is fricked up is that as technology gets better we will need fewer and fewer blue collar workers so even if these kids wanted jobs in 10 years they won't be there. Its a tough thing for me because I am against handouts but without those millions and millions of people will literally have no way to legally earn a living as technology advances. Its gonna be a crazy ride and I am just glad I live where I do!

I would actually love to spend some time helping kids like that. They are all probably fricked but if you could reach just one that would be awesome.

What those schools need is a rock star administration group. I had that at one school and I was able to feel I was doing really good work. My second school didn't and I felt like I was just getting through the day. Kids (all of em) are animals, they can smell weakness

They need outlets to release the anger but many don't have any except drugs and violence.

Maybe! Those would help but I can't say for certain that outlets for anger would even come close to solving the problem.

Not always. My daughter behaves like a heathen. I've spent countless hours working with her, to the point I'm mostly grey at 35, no result. Her brother is an honor student and on the student council. It's incredibly frustrating and I feel her teachers pain. But we really are doing everything we can for her.

If you watched the video they need way more than that. Those kids WANT to be kicked out of school!
