The son of one of China's most powerful property moguls has outraged many by posting photos of his dog sporting new Apple watches, together worth around 250,000 RMB (£26,000), highlighting the growing wealth gap between China's newly minted billionaires and regular people.
Wang Sicong posted images of his pet husky Keke wearing a watch on each front leg on Tuesday. They were published on the "dog's" Weibo micro blog, called "Keke Wang is a B****" (written by Mr Wang). In the days that followed, reactions from Chinese netizens have been growing increasingly irate.
Alongside the photos, Mr Wang posted the caption: "I have new watches! There should have been four watches because of my four long legs, but in case I look too 'tuhao' [vulgar nouveau riche], it was decided that I should wear two but no fewer, or it would not fit my status. Do you have one too?"
