I had a teacher last semester who had her grandson. She said, "he will be sitting in the back observing." It was a class of like 50+ and it was uncomfortable.
With my son today, it's a class of 4 of us, plus the professor. I didn't call because it was last minute, figured he might want to go instead of playing fortnite. He sat right next to me in the front row and was paying attention. Of course he didn't know what exactly everything was, but was quiet and paid attention. The professor didn't mind it and engaged with him to break it down to him. It was fun. Again, glad I brought him.

All I have to add is that this sounds like good parenting, and though it's probably too late of advice, I would advise asking your professor first.
And.....I'm guessing, based on the age of the child...that your birth year is '87. Mine too. My child is 10 though. So grats on the sex, but I beat you to productive sex....well.... reproductive sex at least. Either way, grats on the sex.
Edit....

Trashy.
Sorry, habit. You should be fine.

Ha! Thanks for the congrats. I have two Gremlins and one on the way. Reproductive sex is the best!
