Oh, its definitely useful, but not magic.

His point was more that a fingerprint is useless unless someone is abeady in the system or you have a reason to suspect Someone and compare their prints to the one he collected. Same as fibre evidence. What he was getting at is that he can use forensics to finish someone off, but generally, they're of limited use on their own if they are all he has to work with. He needs to know who to try to match forensic evidence to.
