I didn't really want to start a new thread but did want to let the OT know that oilfield activity is getting back to 2014 levels in the Delaware Basin (Permian Basin, TX/NM border)
Highways are filled with water trucks, Raptors with nutz, and service trucks. Hotels are back to $150-$300/night in Carlsbad, not quite as high in Hobbs. The RV parks are full. Walmark line is 15 deep at every register at 8pm on Friday night.
Rig Count is creeping back towards all time highs in NM:
Dec 1 2017: 70
Dec 2 2016: 29
Dec 4 2015: 40
Dec 5 2014: 100
Dec 6 2013: 76
Dec 7 2012: 73

If any of you are looking for work and don't mind relocating to W TX/E NM then get your arse in gear.
The rig count isn't quite back to all time highs but the vibe/frenzy is exactly like it was in 2014 in terms of work and hustle.

My little cousin just went back to a rig manager job in NM. He was torquing flanges for Turner all last year.

Pitiful that we have to pay higher gas prices so some uneducated roughnecks can drive trucks they can’t afford and pay for hair extensions for their beautician wives

Houma looks bleak. Downtown looks like a ghost town.
Chase Bank just shut down it’s Main Street branch in the Government Tower.
That pretty much leaves Whitney the last bank on Main Street Downtown.
Houma’s only bright spots are retail, medical. and to some degree construction. They are still building several levee projects and have gotten some diversification in its shipbuilding for not just oilfield needs.
BTW just passed a sign in Gallicanism that Doerle is hiring in Fourchon.
