I'm with you on this RC. I don't know how everyone is defining mental illness, but blaming that seems to me a copout. And paints the dude as some type of victim in this whole ordeal.
Was he really mentally ill? Or just formed some obscenely evil ideals and decided to act on them, for infamy?

With all the info that's coming out about him, he had some mental shite going on. The level of paranoia this dickhead was showing in his online posts is a classic sign of personality disorder. Maybe anti-social or borderline. I have been practicing in the state's mental health system for a long time and there are very few cases of someone that could be considered to have been born evil.
