Always liked seeing the A-10s out of England AFB around the in-laws house back in the day.
I remember in high school in the early 80s the AF was having some sort of wargaming operation going on out of England AFB.
It was summer time, and we were out skiing on Crooked Creek Reservoir (near Turkey Creek in Evangeline Parish).
Lots of A-7 Corsairs and F-4 Phantoms flying around. I remember they would bank and turn right over the reservoir looking down at us.
Hardly ever got to see them fly that low.

tiburon sub division area on swan lake road. They fly right over it all the time low as frick
You are right under the VFR traffic pattern there. You are at a point where we are somewhere between 1200 feet and 800 feet.

Also all the way up near Plain Dealing I've seen them refueling thousands of feet up.
There's an air refueling track that runs from Elm Grove just southeast of Barksdale up to Tulsa, OK. That goes pretty much right over the Plain Dealing area.

I remember that jet fuel is getting more expensive
Shockingly, fuel costs is one of the least expensive aspects of keeping the current engines. For this fiscal year we are paying $1.6 million dollars per engine to be overhauled and we overhaul between 35-50 each year. That price is increasing by about 18% each year. The cost to sustain all the other engine related equipment is also increasing. Some estimates show that an investment of $8 billion to re-engine the B-52 would actually save the government over $30 billion.
