Lending trustee labor out to private businesses is a super corrupt system that must be abolished.
I had a great uncle who was a drunk and was prone to steal just about anything that wasn't tied or nailed down. He was always in and out of jail. He was also a master plumber. He plumed every judge's, officer's, and DA's house around. He also took care of all the plumbing at the jail and courthouse. He got time off, rarely had to actually stay in jail, and all the folks at the jail loved him and treated him well. He wouldn't have had it any other way, and usually viewed the whole ordeal as everyone doing "business". That was a much different time, though.
Hell, one time when I was little, a county cop car pulled up in our driveway. Two deputies got out and walked up to the porch where my Pops and I were sitting. They said a judge had sent them to find my great uncle and they were looking for him. Pops asked what he did, and one of the officers said, "Nothing this time, the judge's daughter's water heater had started leaking and needed to be replaced. He will only let your uncle work on anything."
